What to Expect After Getting New Dreadlocks
Dreadlocks are great for almost anyone, no matter on your hair type. There are however, some things you kneed to be aware of after getting new locks…
You need to be patient…
Dreadlocks Maturation Process: It takes time, often months, to get your dreadlocks to a stage where they are firm enough that they don’t require maintenance every week or two. But once they are hardened up, and if you are caring for them properly, you should only require maintenance about every month or so.
Soreness and Itchiness: Another thing to remember is that new dreadlocks can often be sore and itchy when first installed. This should subside after some time however. The dread master ensures that he doesn’t not maintain dreads to the point where it hurts.
Hair Drying Time: Dreadlocks often take quite a while to dry after you wash them, but you need to ensure that you dry them properly to prevent any mould or bacteria. Make sure you dry them out thoroughly, and use a blow dryer gently if you need to.
